I use this on my Mitzi Skiff and I love it. As you go up the creeks / in the river / the ICW, you will have to move your rig from side to side, front to back, etc. depending on your situation. This rod holder can be easily moved with just a few twists of the mounting brackets. I had other rod holders that only had one screw down supporter, this can put a lot of strain on your boat when a big fish latches on and is pulling all that pressure, on that one point. This holder having TWO clamps, spreads the stress out and it makes it a much sturdier mount overall and puts less strain on your boat hull, lessening the chance of stress cracking in the gel coating. Other rod holders, have wire contraptions to hold your pole. When a huge fish latches on, the last thing you need to be doing is fighting with your rod holder to let your pole go!! With this holder all you have to do is lift up and it lets your pole go immediately for your fish handling. Don't worry, until you pull up on it, your pole is locked tight in place and is not going to go over the side. So far this mount is very corrosion resistant. I can't tell you how much stuff I have had rot out in the salt environment. Even the so called 'stainless / rust resistant' stuff will eventually rot when constantly drenched in the hot sun and salt water. I have purposely left one of these mounts coated with salt, stewing in the sun to test it. To date it still performs like the day I bought it with no noticeable problems. The only Con I have with this holder is that the mounting screws do NOT screw all the way down so the pads touch the other side. This probably will not be a problem with 95 percent of the other boats, but the Mitzi, the way it is designed, while it will NOT fall off, it leaves the mount a little loose so it can flop a bit. No worries however, this is a very quick fix. All you need to do is put a very small, maybe 3/8 inch piece of wood under the clamps between them and your boat hull and it tightens right up and is still easily movable. I epoxied two metal disks on the feet of the holders and it's fine now. While a minor issue, this is the only thing that is keeping me from giving this holder a solid 5 star rating. In closing, an excellent fishing pole holder, very versatile and this will be the last one you will ever need to buy unless one of your friends 'borrows' it because it's such an awesome holder!! ...acs
